Project Management

 NSW Department of Industry & Investment

Project management of various data projects including scheduling of in-house and external resources, communication with business groups, coordination of testing and implementation of upgrades, as well as liaison with third party vendors. Ongoing BI analysis, cluster/instance management, and performance monitoring have been integral to the project management role.

 Transfield Services Pty Ltd

Management of a number of medium-sized projects which included national\international site relocations of company infrastructure, network redesign, and personnel management. These projects have been undertaken within tight deadlines and where minimal business interruption is paramount as a high number of end users are affected within the Australian and international sites of this multi-national company.

Using Primavera, Paul was required to demonstrate a thorough understanding of technical infrastructure (software, hardware, telephony etc) environments, and high-level project coordination and management of multi-faceted projects for the affected interstate, international and virtual sites.

Data Administation\Migration

 NSW Depart. of Industry & Investment

Paul has been working on a wide range of applications in the development, upgrade and management of the DPI’s SQL servers and related applications. Core tasks have included the large-scale data centre and infrastructure consolidation for:

 Department of Agriculture
 Department of Fisheries
 Department of Mineral Resource

businesses, the management and development of databases for over thirty internal\external business groups, and upgrades of 250 databases (SQL Server 2000 -> 2005 -> 2008) for the organisation which has over three thousand users

Other areas of responsibility have included DR system implementation, implementation management of Legato Backup/PITR , DTS/SSIS/SSRS/SSMS upgrade and development, Windows 2003 server administration and IIS web administration and EMC/SAN integration. Application integrations have included SAP, document management system upgrades (TRIM), Aurion payroll system integration and implementation, Helpdesk and ITIL Service Management (Infra), Blackberry system, and email and web monitoring (Surf Control).

 Southern Cross Alliance

Paul created a relational database model to include both historical and new core business database infrastructure. This added major efficiencies to business policy and procedure structure and profits.

 OzEmail Ltd (aka iinet - Billing System

This position required Paul to operate OzEmail’s financial billing system. The role also demanded system development, call centre support and DBA work. The billing system accommodated approximately 200,000 credit card customers, 50,000 corporate customers, and an on-line help desk for 30 Customer Account Service representatives. Paul developed the OzEmail/UUNet invoice format (VB/MS Access), the first Date Transfer rating engine (VB/MS Access), virtual web database for call centre (VB/MS Access), an AR application for credit control (VB/MS Access) and product management enhancements and ongoing system changes

Software Development

 Peabody Ltd - Wambo Mine

Paul developed a reporting console for this large underground coal mine. This includes monitoring of conveyor and shearer based electrical engineered hardware.

 SELECTV Broadcasting

Paul has been project managing and developing VBA, PHP and Intranet applications for SELECTV Broadcasting, a pay television company. Projects included development of Dispatch, Inventory, Marketing and Billing systems in addition to Intranet web pages. This has required the development of detailed specifications and design of business processing software, database administration and architecture, plus front end and back-end development.

 Southern Cross Alliance

Southern Cross Alliance provides migration services to business and family customers immigrating to Australia. Paul has designed and developed front-end and database business applications to meet the expanding needs of this Sydney-based organisation.
